Mindfulness for Athletes Class
with Colleen Hathaway, DC & Dr. Kris Eiring
Mindfulness is learning to be aware of your thinking and knowing how to shift your focus during training or competing.
Have you ever focused too long on your mistakes leading you to worry about future athletic performances? Have you ever found yourself thinking “This is too hard” or “I can’t do this” while training or competing? Have you ever experienced performance anxiety or worry? If you can answer yes to any of these questions, then this class is for you.
The focus of the class is the mind and body connection and how best to put the two together. Mindfulness can increase your self-confidence and help you learn mental skills that can be accessed during critical moments of training and performance. Athletes of all levels can benefit from these tools.
Dr. Kris will offer simple information about how the brain operates, how to use specific skills to shift your focus, and how to best use self talk or imagery to help yourself improve performance.
Dr. Colleen will offer education on the physical aspect of training and recovery while applying mindfulness. She will also discuss energy and how to check in with your body before, during and after an athletic event.
